INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTRIBUTORS

Authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the following instructions. Manuscripts can be sent to the Editorial Team at any time of the year. All manuscripts must be prepared as follows: A manuscript should be sent as an MSWord file WITHOUT ANY INFORMATION THAT MAY IDENTIFY THE AUTHOR. Author's details (institutional affiliation, address, telephone, e-mail) should be sent in the Declaration of Authorship and should not be reproduced in the primary MSWord file.
Manuscripts should be sent in an MSWord or MSWord-compatible format. Text must be typed in Times New Roman font size 11, with one-and-a-half line spacing. Page size: A4 (21.5 x 29.7 cm), margins: 2.5 cm. Footnotes should be typed in a size 10 font, with single spacing.
If tables, diagrams and/or charts are attached to the manuscript, they should be sent in a separate file, in their original format (MSExcel, MSWord, etc.) and correctly numbered; their placement in the text should be indicated. In addition, each of these elements must have a title and its source must be given in a footnote.
The author's statement that he or she intends to publish the work in Law in Action should also be provided; the statement must indicate that the work has not been simultaneously submitted for publication in another journal.

ARTICLES

Academic nature: We accept only original and previously unpublished articles concerning studies or research, particularly those useful for practical purposes.
Volume: a manuscript's total volume should not exceed 40 A4 pages including footnotes and the end list of references (and attachments, if any).
Each article must have a title in Polish and English, and indicate the author's name, institutional affiliation and e-mail address. A note of the author's scientific profile may be displayed at the bottom of the page.
An abstract and list of keywords, in Polish and English, must also be attached. The abstract should have a maximum of 15 lines (up to 300 words). Between 3 to 5 keywords should be provided in order to facilitate searches in electronic databases.
On an article's first page, Law in Action will include the dates of its submission and acceptance for publication.

CASE NOTES (GLOSSES)

Manuscripts submitted for publication in this section should present studies on current case-law or analyses of jurisprudential lines that are relevant to a given branch of law. Case notes should not exceed 15 A4 pages including footnotes and the end list of references.
According to the above requirements, submitted case notes must have a title in Polish and English, and indicate the author's name, institutional affiliation and e-mail address. An abstract and list of keywords, in Polish and English, should also be attached.
On the first page of case notes, Law in Action will include the dates of its submission and acceptance for publication.

REVIEWS

A review should clearly describe the content and main features of the reviewed work, as well as its assessment. A review should not exceed 10 A4 pages including footnotes.
According to the aforementioned requirements, a review should indicate the author's name, institutional affiliation and e-mail address.
On the first page of a review, Law in Action will include the dates of its submission and acceptance for publication.

CONTRIBUTORS’ OBLIGATIONS RELATED TO PUBLICATION/h3>

By submitting a manuscript, the author declares that he is familiar with Law in Action standards and publishing policies. The author also undertakes to refrain from simultaneously submitting the manuscript to another domestic or foreign journal. The author undertakes to transfer to Law in Action the copyright necessary for an open-access publication of the manuscript. The author will indemnify Law in Action for any of his or her infringements of intellectual or industrial property rights. The author confirms that he or she knows the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons 4.0 Attribution-NonCommercial International license (CC BY-NC 4.0).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE DRAFTING OF FOOTNOTES AND LISTS OF REFERENCES

Law in Action uses the method of compiling bibliographic references described in PN-ISO 690:2012, which is a Polish variant of the ISO 690 standard. Authors should avoid excessive self-references and provide a comprehensive overview of the national bibliography.
1. Authors who are interested in publishing in Law in Action may submit articles, case notes, reviews and source documents. Manuscripts can be submitted as MSWord documents in two ways: (a) directly by authors at www.prawowdziałaniu.pl, in accordance with the Open Journal System (OJS) rules. (b) optionally, as an attachment to an email sent to Law and Action’s e-mail address (jerzy.slyk@iws.gov.pl, pawel.bachmat@iws.gov.pl). The email’s subject line should read “Praca do publikacji w Prawie w Działaniu” (“A manuscript for publication in Law in Action”). Regardless of the submission option selected, the person submitting the manuscript must give the name(s) of the author(s) and indicate the section of Law in Action in which he or she would like to have the work published. 2. Law in Action does not publish papers devoted to areas other than legal sciences. 3. We accept only previously unpublished works. 4. The title and content of a manuscript must adhere to the instructions laid down for each thematic section of Law in Action. 5. The author must submit a completed Declaration of Authorship and Copyright Transfer Form. For manuscripts written by several authors, one author must submit the Declaration and Form on behalf of all the authors and provide the other authors’ particulars. The main author is the author with whom we correspond regarding the manuscript in the course of editorial work. 6. The author must submit a full article, together with all appendices, if any. No changes will be accepted once the review process has started. The manuscript must be submitted as a fully editable electronic document, without password protection (submission of a PDF file will not be considered as the commencement of the publishing process). 7. Photographs and images should be submitted as jpgs (or in another compatible electronic format) with a resolution of at least 300 dpi. Diagrams, tables or charts must be attached in a separate file. 8. The author must have the rights to reproduce graphic materials, images, photographs, works of art, etc. Only manuscripts that satisfy the above requirements may be submitted to the Editorial Team

PRE-SUBMISSION CHECKLIST FOR CONTRIBUTORS

As part of the submission process, authors are obliged to check if submitted materials satisfy the requirements listed below. Non-complying manuscripts will be returned to authors. 1. The manuscript has not been previously submitted for publication, or is not awaiting publication, in another journal. 2. Declaration of Authorship and Copyright Transfer Form, signed by the main author, are attached in PDF format. The forms may be downloaded here. 3. The manuscript contains a work of an academicnature. 4. An abstract, presenting the objective, methods, results and conclusions, is written in Polish and English. 5. A list of 3-5 keywords on the manuscript’s subject is included. 6. All authors who have an ID-ORCID identifier should include it. 7. The institutional and national affiliation of each author is indicated (without abbreviations). 8. The methodology is explained; the results are presented and discussed. 9. The submitted manuscript is linguistically correct. 10. The ethical aspects of academic research have been taken into account. 11. The manuscript is in MSWord, graphics are JPEGs and tables are submitted as spreadsheets. 12. The footnotes and list of references appearing in the manuscript comply with the Instructions for Contributors. 13. Text is typed in Times New Roman font size 11, with one-and-a-half line spacing. Page size is set to A4 (21.5 x 29.7 cm), margins: 2.5 cm. Footnotes should be typed in a size 10 font, with single spacing 14. The manuscript indicates the location and sources of the attached files. 15. The list of references includes only the works cited in the text. 16. Whenever possible, URLs and DOIs are included in the list of references. 17. For manuscripts sent for a double-blind review, the author has taken care to ensure the anonymity of his text (all references to the author(s) in the file have been removed).
